At all times, we highly recommend that everyone be prepared for unplanned water outages. Store at least 5-8 Gallons of water per person per household for shortage emergencies. Take into account your needs for drinking, personal hygiene, and for cooking. Also, you should store non-potable water for toilets, washing dishes, and other water needs. Please remember that most water outages are due to system breakages or power outages that cause the pumps to stop working. Once advised of the outage, the repair process commences. However, this does not mean that the repair will take place immediately, as the appropriate personnel may not be available. It takes the efforts of the board members, community volunteers, and contractors to restore running water.
While you are at it, this is also an excellent time to plan for future Home Power Outages. You might want to include flashlights and batteries, a battery-operated radio, candles or other battery-operated lights, matches, First Aid Kit, and other necessities one may need during a Power Outage.
